David Gray
David has had many solo exhibitions and work is constantly on show in galleries in Cornwall and Devon.
He enjoys the process of painting, the medium being acrylic on board or canvas (together with torn material on larger paintings, such as jeans with buttons and zips ) embedded into the texture. Paint is applied in layers and glazes with knives, cloths, fingers, rubbing and scraping to give a distressed effect which is then pulled together in the final stages.
David began his art training at Coventry College of Art and Design, studying Technical Illustration.
His work reflects his earlier career as a Design Draughtsman - Illustrator, working mainly in engineering, and when he moved to the South West in 1970 into the boat construction industry.
