Kevin Cooper
With a career background in the surfboard industry spanning
over 20 years, the artwork of Kevin Cooper is a combination of
skills gained from putting graphics on surfboards, plus design,
photography and printing techniques learnt and enjoyed over
the past decade. His enthusiasm for photography led him to
complete a diploma in graphic design which in turn has allowed
him to branch out and set up Sleepless Ink, the umbrella name
for his creative pursuits.
At times, frustrated by the constraints of surfboard manufacturing
and graphic design jobs, Kevin has used techniques from both
fields to enjoy producing artwork free from previous limitations.
This approach allows him to produce pieces with texture and
multiple layers, while exploring different subject matters. Part of
the process uses drawings, paintings, scans and photographs
before being transferred onto textured
backgrounds. These works often become prints in their own right
and are printed in numbered runs as Limited Editions.
